Tentang Rumput yang Lebih Hijau di Sana

They say that the grass is always greener on the other side.
Human, driven by lust and rapacity, would always envy others. We always think that others are more fortunate than us. Ungrateful indeed, we are. (Yoda's style)
Human perspectives are often affected by Shaytan. All we see only the advantages of others in this non lasting world.
We see others spoiled by wealth, we desire for wealth also.
We see others have powers, we crave for powers too.
We see others have women, we want women too. (for man)
We see others have good, reputable job, we became jealous.
Envy, together with greed easily overwhelm us. We become ungrateful. All we think are advantages that others have over us.

The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) said "Avoid jealousy, for it destroys good deeds as fire destroys wood."
--------- Riyadh-us-Salaheen, Hadith 1569

Indeed, jealousy is one of the roots of evil, giving rise to misconducts. One of the diseases that consume one's heart, giving birth to the ummah's problems nowadays. To gain power, one would even frame others to overthrow him. On what base are 'Politik wang' and 'politik lucah' all about? (eh? all out of a sudden). People kill, rob, frame and cheat out of jealousy. Envy displaces the good in us.
Peluh kecil menitis di situ. Ketandusan idea sebentar. (=.=")
We had always look up to people who have possessions and assets in this world. Wealth, health, powers, food, women and all.
In order to discourage envy, the Prophet (sallallahu alaihi wa-sallam) said: "Do not look to those above you. Look to those below you, as it will more likely remind you of Allah's favors bestowed on you." [Saheeh al-Bukharee and Saheeh Muslim] On another occasion, he said: "If one of you looks at someone wealthier and better built than him, he should also look at someone of lower standard than himself." [Saheeh Muslim]

But why our envy is not sourced on the permissible condition?
"Huh, we can envy others in certain condition? Just now u said envy is not good!"
The Messenger of Allah (sallallahu alaihi wa-sallam) said: "Envy is allowed in two cases, in case of a man whom Allah has given the Qur'aan and who recites it throughout night and day; and a man on whom Allah has bestowed wealth who gives it away throughout night and day." [Saheeh al-Bukharee and Saheeh Muslim] and he (sallallahu alaihi wa-sallam) also explained what may be said: "I wish I were given what he was given and did with it what he did."

In worldly aspects, look at someone lower than you. In preparation for the HEREAFTER, look at someone better than you.

Then, u will become more grateful.

yes, how true! if we keep looking at someone lower in the worldly aspect, we will never improve ourselves. and, we will eventually become "riyak" because we think our "amal" is more that those people. astaghfirullah.
